Ngati Hine Health Trust is working together with Te Puni Kokiri and the Department of Corrections to deliver an exciting new programme called Paiheretia Te Muka Tangata (Uniting the threads of families). This kaupapa draws on the strengths of the Whanau Ora approach to support Tane Maori and their whanau who are engaged in the Correction system to whanau tino rangatiratanga. 

We are looking for culturally competent professionals (preferably from a Social Work; Navigator or High-complex needs background) who possess the skills and attitude, to prepare Tane Maori and their whanau to developing their own pathways where whanau are well and safe, and determining for themselves their own way forward to achieving their needs and aspirations.

The following vacancies are now available within our Paiheretia Te Muka Tangata service which will be based in the Kawakawa, Kaikohe and Whangarei areas:

Vacancy 107/2021 – Kaiarahi (Programme Coordinator) – (2.0 Fte)

Vacancy 108/2021 – Kaiarataki (Navigator) – (8.0 Fte)

These roles will work directly with Tane Maori under the age of thirty (30) years of age within a Correction facility or to work with their whanau at all stages in their journey through the Correction’s system.  In working with these young men and their whānau you will identify outcomes that support the reconnection of whanau and sustained reintegration into a better community and whanau life.

Preferred applicants will have active and meaningful networks that can support participants in areas such as Accommodation, Employment, Health, Whanau relationships, Community Contribution and Cultural Connectivity.
