Whānau Whānui is based in Whangārei and supports whānau and children-focussed programmes that strengthen whānau and improve their circumstances to give tamariki a better start in life.
Includes a child-centered intensive home visit programme to improve children’s health, learning, relationships, whānau circumstances, environment and safety. This team also work with whānau referred with family violence issues. Kaimahi focus on support to restore safety, wellbeing and long-term positive change that prevents family violence from reoccurring.
Parenting course that is run 5 times a year for parents and caregivers of tamariki 3-8 years. It teaches positive and nurturing parenting styles so that parents can build positive relationships with their tamariki.
Working with referrals from the Whāngarei, Kaikohe and Dargaville District Courts, the RJ team brings together “victims” and “offenders” in an RJ conference to find a healing pathway forward.
