Te timatanga: 1987

The genesis of Ngāti Hine Health Trust began with the Motatau Marae Kōmiti which, in 1987, formed a health sub-committee to address the health needs of the Motatau community.

28 April 1992

After the committee successfully delivered its first health contracts, Ngāti Hine Health Trust was officially formed on 28 April 1992,

Te Mirumiru Early Childhood Centre

Te Mirumiru Early Childhood Centre officially opened on 4 February 2012. It has received international recognition for its environmentally sustainable design.

Covid-19: Responding to a global pandemic

The Ngāti Hine Health Trust contribution to the Northland response to the Covid-19 Global Pandemic was both massive and super impressive including 30,597 vaccinations,  3,500 PCR tests, and support to 6,700 individuals from 1,750 households.

Te Taumata o te Ora 30th Anniversary Celebration

Ngāti Hine Health Trust celebrated its 30th anniversary in May 2022 at a black-tie event held at the Turner Centre in Kerikeri. It was an opportunity to acknowledge founding members, leaders, kaimahi and the communities and marae it serves.

A Whānau Hub in Whangārei

In August 2022, Ngāti Hine Health Trust rededicated its ground floor at Torongare in Whangārei to become a prominent base for whānau to access holistic approaches to care.

From humble beginnings, it has grown to become an exponential leader in oranga (wellbeing) services within the Northland hapū and hāpori.

Ngāti Hine Health Trust delivers across multiple sectors including health, disability support, mental health& addictions, primary care, justice, corrections, housing, education, social services, reo irirangi Māori and Whānau Ora.

We have locations in Kawakawa (Head Office), Whangārei (Business Support) and satellite offices in Kaikohe, Pakaraka, Moerewa and Kaeo.

The size and complexity of Ngāti Hine Health Trust can be measured with, circa 30 June 2022: $40M revenue, 400+ kaimahi and over 100 funding contracts and/or agreements.

Ngāti Hine Health Trust is proud to be a kaupapa Māori organisation committed to, not just reflecting Māori values, but Ngāti Hine tikanga and kawa (Te Tū o Ngāti Hine).

Ngāti Hine Health Trust is committed to understanding and reflecting the way we operate the principles found within two key documents of Aotearoa, New Zealand: He Whakaputanga o te Rangātiratanga o Nu Tirene, 1835, the Declaration of Independence of the United Tribes of New Zealand and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, 1840.
