Based in Whangarei with a satellite studio in Kawakawa, Ngāti Hine FM delivers programmes terrestrially (radio waves) and online via social media and web streaming. We are a bilingual, music-based radio station with programming targeted at Māori living in the Ngāti Hine tribal area. We work collaboratively with other organisations to produce a seamless quality service:

  • NHFM is part of the national iwi radio network Ngā Reo Irirangi Māori whose role is to preserve, promote and protect Te Reo Māori.

  • NHFM is part of Te Reo o Te Tai Tokerau – a collaborative group which includes Tautoko FM and Te Hiku Media that share Māori language radio programmes and outside broadcasts, including live-streaming significant regional events (and/or records these for delayed online delivery).

  • NHFM works closely with Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Hine who own the NHFM broadcast license. In this regard, we align ourselves to Ngāti Hine kaupapa and goals and also use the radio to disseminate Runanga promotions, information and messages.

  • NHFM has a presence on social media and the web with live and on-demand radio and streamed programmes/interviews/videos in Te Reo and Bilingual.

  • NHFM engages with the community through a regular presence at community events.

  • NHFM produces multimedia content which can be found on the NHFM Facebook page (@ngatihinefm) and NHFM website:
